The 1st Summer Course of Portuguese Language and Culture in Macau was organized by ICM in July of 1986. 36 students participated in the 1st intake. Starting from the 5th intake (1990), the Summer Course has been organized by the University of Macao, in cooperation with the Education and Youth Department, and the Portuguese Oriental Institute. In the year 2000 we had also the cooperation of IPM. In 2001-2005 it has been organized by UM, IPM and DSEJ. In 2006-2007 it has been organized by UM and DSEJ. This year (2008) the members of the organization are again the University of Macau and the Education and Youth Department. The Summer Course of Portuguese Language and Culture gives participants from different Asian countries an opportunity to improve their skills in Portuguese or to start learning this language. XXIII SUMMER COURSE OF PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE July 2008 INFORMATIVE CIRCULAR TEACHING LEVELS: Basic Level - written and oral expression, grammar and conversation. (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only). Intermediate Level - Development of written and oral expression, grammar, conversation and introduction to Portuguese culture. (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only). Advanced Level - Improvement of written and oral expression, grammar, conversation and Portuguese culture. (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only). Superior Level – For foreign teachers and researchers of Portuguese language and culture. The course will also include seminars and lectures on Portuguese literature, culture and history, and the cultural and civilizational contacts between the East and the West. (from Monday to Friday, mornings only). Note: The course will also include several activities held outside the class schedule, which will be indicated later. EvaluationAt the end of the course, students have to take an exam. ATTENDANCEStudents who are absent from the lessons for more than 15 hours, will not be entitled to receive the course diploma. AccommodationStudents who are not from Macau will be accommodated in the Hostel of the University of Macau, on Taipa Island. Students can make use of the facilities of the University Canteen, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. 非常荣幸在12年暑期去了这暑期班，在这很感谢澳门大学和Aldino先生给予我这珍贵的机会，让我在澳大学习葡语以及领略葡国遗留的历史和文化，个人很支持澳大举办暑期班的活动，希望下次有机会能再参加一次。
